Your State Committee will be meeting Wednesday, June 6th. The committee will be finalizing the Competition Calendar for the 2007-2008 Season. Please inform the appropriate Level Rep regarding any concerns you might have, any suggestions or accolades that might be appropriate. National Meet Qualifiers Congratulations to all L-9 & L-10 Qualifiers. Michigan will be well represented. A list of all qualifiers is on page 14 of this newsletter. State Committee Elections Thanks to those who took the time, in the past, to find the enthusiasm to volunteer for our committee. All Committee positions will be up for re-election in the spring of 2007. Our elected positions commence July 1st, and run through June 30th, 2009. The position of Club Owners Rep will be discontinued. All Michigan Club Owners are duly represented by the committee members, who are mostly Club Owners. There will be two (2) new positions added to our committee. First, a Level 4 Rep. Second, a Prep Opt Rep. The committee job descriptions are posted and the resumes of the volunteers running for contested positions are in this newsletter. Those volunteers that are un-contested will automatically assume the duties of their respective positions. The State Administrative Committee Election Procedures: The official slate of nominees for each position will be posted in this Newsletter. The voting will be concluded on June 15th at midnight. The week after June 15th, the SACC will announce the election results by email to each candidate, including the actual vote counts in event that any of the candidates wants to know this information. Congratulations to Jim & Lori Comiskey of the Midland Gymnastics Training Center for a excellent job at hosting the Level 9 & 10 Regional Meet. Accolades go out to Jims booster club and all the effort behind hosting this important and difficult competition. The NAWGJ Summer Judges Clinic will be held at the Hartland Gym on Friday, July 20, Saturday, July 21 and Sunday, July 22, 2007. There will be a gymnast clinic for Level 7 & 8s on Friday, July 20th with Neil & Patty Resnick, from the USAG National Team Coaching Staff. Registration begins soon! Committee member positions are for a two-year term. The basic requirements for all committee members are as follows: Be involved in 5 meetings per year, early summer meeting (calendar), late summer meeting (State & Sectional meet bids and Michigan Congress organization), a meeting at the Michigan Congress or its equivalent, early January meeting (State and Sectional judging assignments), and at the Level 9/10 State Meet (organize summer clinics, State Congress, etc.) Organize and work with the entire committee at the Michigan State Congress. Work the State Congress the entire weekend. Be accessible to coaches and judges in the State for questions and suggestions, etc. When making committee decisions, keep an open mind on how those decisions will affect ALL athletes, coaches, and judges in our State. Keep a broad perspective in mind at all times.
